To transfer a domain away from Namecheap, you should unlock the domain and get the auth code to use in the new registrar. So, here is how you can disable Registrar Lock and get the Auth code for your domain.

Steps to unlock domain in Namecheap

  1. Sign in to Namecheap.
  2. Go to Domain List > Manage next to the domain you want to transfer.

  3. Go to Sharing & Transfer tab.

  4. In the Transfer Out section, click on Unlock and it will also provide you the Auth Code which will be sent to the Registrant email address).

  5. That’s it, your domain is unlocked.

If you are prompted for the reason for transferring the domain, provide something in the box or just skip it.
