How to Add Password to WinRar?

I want to know how could I add a password to the WinRar archives I have with me. What I want to do is adding passwords to the ZIP files created using the WinRar application, so that anyone opening it will be asked for the password before being able to extract and access the files inside it. How to set a strong password on the WinRar archives that I created using the software?

You can set password to an existing WinRar archive by following these steps.

  1. Open the archive in WinRar.
  2. Go to Tools in the menu.
  3. Click on Convert archives.
  4. Click on the Compression button.
  5. In the Geneal tab, click on Set password button.
  6. Enter the password you want to set for the ZIP file and save it.

If I set a password like this following the methods you mentioned above, If I want to remove the password later, will I be able to do that?

Yes. You can remove the password any time you want using the WinRar application.

Will I lose any of the files if I set a password for the WinRar archive?

No. I don’t think so. Setting a password would only make a security wall for the RAR file. Wouldn’t affect anything inside once you are in.

OK. Thanks.
